Privacy Policy

This explains what personal data GoOuts collects when you use our app and services, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

Last updated: May 2025

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide when you register and use the app, including:

  • Identity and contact data: your name, email address, date of birth, address, username, and password.
  • Financial and payout data: your linked bank or card details needed to top up your Wallet, and the details needed to release Cashback or an Advance to you, processed on our behalf by Stripe.
  • Transaction data: the Partner, purchase amount, timestamp, and Cashback earned for each verified transaction.
  • Technical and verification data: your device information, IP address, and the GPS location and QR code data used to verify you were present at a Partner at the time of a transaction.
  • Identity verification data: the government issued ID and selfie you submit for KYC checks, processed by our identity verification provider.
  • Marketing preferences: whether you have opted in to receive marketing emails from us, and your communication preferences.

2. How and Why We Use Your Data

We only use your personal data where the law allows us to. Most commonly, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to create and run your account, verify and process your transactions, credit and release Cashback, and process Wallet top ups and payouts.
  • Legal obligation: to carry out identity verification and anti-money laundering checks as required by UK financial regulations.
  • Legitimate interests: to prevent fraud, keep the app and Wallet secure, understand how the app is used, and improve our services, balanced in each case against your right to privacy.
  • Consent: to send you marketing emails about new Partners, offers, and features. You can withdraw this consent at any time from within the app or by contacting us, and we will stop sending marketing emails once you do.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Regulated identity verification partners (e.g. Sumsub)
  • Payment processors (e.g. Stripe)
  • GoOuts Partner businesses, limited to what is needed to verify and settle a transaction and the Cashback attached to it
  • Technical service providers who host our infrastructure, store our data, or send emails and notifications on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect your data
  • Regulatory authorities when required by law

4. Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and for up to 7 years after closure as required by financial regulations.

Short Stay check-in and check-out photographs are handled differently, tied to the purpose they exist for rather than the general rule above: if no damage claim is opened, they are deleted 14 days after checkout; if a claim is opened, they are kept for as long as the claim remains open and deleted promptly once it is decided.

6. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to what we are required to keep for legal, tax, or anti-fraud purposes
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data, including objecting to direct marketing at any time
  • Request that we transfer your data to another organisation, where this is technically feasible

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@goouts.co.uk.

7. Cookies

Our app uses analytics cookies to improve performance. You can manage cookie preferences in your device settings, or on our website via the Cookie Policy page.
